Wellspringwords is a literary anthology and creative enrichment studio that serves to enhance the holistic wellbeing of women of color, first, through intuitive writing, storytelling, creative embodiment, and authentic expression.

Wellspringwords the platform hosts a literary anthology that prioritizes the untold narratives of our community writing from the depth of the inner wellspring where wisdom lives and is cultivated. The platform also hosts a podcast and Instagram Live writing talks/workshops/meditations.

Wellspringwords the creative enrichment studio hosts writing + creative expression workshops, a writing fellowship, courses, and 1-1 coaching.

Whether prose or poetry, the process of writing acts as a journey through self-identification, exploration, remembering, and creating in truth and abundance. Wellspringwords is a space dedicated to holistic healing and liberation through narrative reclamation.

Through the unique kind of empowerment we support and cultivate at Wellspringwords, we truly hope the community of women of color we serve continue to rise into our power and reclaim our wisdom, our ambition, our expression, and the respect, dignity, and abundance that is rightfully ours.

Even though I founded Wellspringwords for my students on a conscious level, I really founded it for myself.

I began this project back in 2020 as a writing instructor at a US university situated in the Middle East. I was working with students from all over the world in courses about deep and complex political, economic, environmental, and social issues. In my personal experience, most academic knowledge circulated within the institution started with a problem created by the white dominant culture and ended with a solution that seemed to directly or indirectly further highlight the white dominant culture and its workings. I later learned this revelation of mine intersected with the experiences of my female students of color, and that is when I founded Wellspringwords – initially for these very students.

I am the initial writer for Wellspringwords. I am a woman with a lot in her heart, a lot on her mind — and the space in the common world order for my true expressions often seems non-existent. So I had to create that space where I could come back to myself, be present with myself, express the truth, and then share it so that others may know my truth, validate my truth by engaging with it, and even resonate with my truth and go on to express their own truths. And because I am always looking to deepen and to learn, I wanted resources and opportunities to know how to come into my truth even more, and how to express my truth in ways that feel the most creatively satisfying and gratifying. Wellspringwords is for me as much as it is for all the people it serves — my fight for liberation is imbued in every part of this project.
